Etsy find: Props.

Since it's Friday, I can't think of a better time for a fun Etsy find! Little Retreats sells photo booth props to sass up any wedding or party. I particularly love the glasses and mustache combo. Think I'm going to find a way to work them into this year's holiday party... Have a great weekend!

Etsy find: Bunting from Big Day.

How darling are these mini flags from Big Day? Imagine decorating a cake with them, stringing them along the front of a candy buffet, or just holding them in photos... The possibilities are endless!

A wishing tree I'd make a wish for.

So, you know how I just blogged about Mrs. Post and all of its cuteness on Monday? Well, they went and uploaded an adorable photo to their facebook page. Check out this sweet party based around a wishing tree they sell. What lucky person was the recipient of this sweet shindig?!

All around pink pretty-ness.

Hosting a shower soon and looking for inspiration? Recently featured on Green Wedding Shoes, the shower shown below is just plain lovely. I love the libations and the gorgeous cameo-inspired cake. Follow the link above for credits and many more images (which include a dessert buffet!).

A pear-inspired centerpiece.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a bit off the grid at the moment because my in-laws are in town. We all celebrated Easter with a big family meal yesterday. I finally had a reason to use my very pear-y Orla Kiely tablecloth and added a few bunny-filled jars (thank you, Martha!) with pear jelly beans inside. The best part: my nephew got to eat the centerpiece afterwards. Does it get any better than that? I'll be back later in the week...

A dinner party for Oscar.

Hello all! I'm off to a slow start today after hosting a small dinner party and Oscar viewing last night. Thought I'd share a few photos of the table I put together using things I found lying around the house. The backside of a wintery tablecloth was gold and shimmery, so it provided a great base to start with. I added our simple white dishes (they go with everything!), a favorite cake platter and some pretty white candle holders. I discovered a negative frame in my craft supplies that finished off the look. I cut it up into placecard holders for each of our guests. They definitely got a giggle out of them, and that made me really happy. =)

Did you host an Oscar party? Tell me about it! =)

A very plaid dessert buffet.

I adored The Inspired Bride's DIY dessert buffet so much that I decided to create one of my own this past weekend. Since we encouraged guests to wear ugly holiday attire, I went for a quirky, traditional look. Using this tutorial as inspiration, I even rolled my own chocolate covered pretzels. They were super easy and yummy!

The main items I purchased to create this buffet were:

Gathering friends for a holiday party.

I have hosted a holiday party in one form or another for the past 15 years. Some years, they have been large gatherings with mistletoe-induced shenanigans. Other years, they have been smaller, more intimate get-togethers. Regardless of size, it just isn't the holiday season without a party or two on our social calendar.

Each year, I take pride in creating the invitation that will welcome friends and family into our home each December. This year's creation was inspired by a recent trip to a French bakery in Northern California. For a little extra something, I created envelope liners from paper by Snow & Graham. Now I just have to be patient and wait until after Thanksgiving to start decorating! Click to enlarge the following images.
